Fees for Financial Planning and Portfolio Management Services
Initial Fee-Based Financial Plan
Most of our client relationships start with an initial discrete financial plan. The plan helps identify and define the long-term planning needs of the client, such as retirement, education and special needs planning. The initial plan has a flat fee cost, usually in the range of $2,000 to $5,000, depending on complexity.
The planning process encompasses three main meetings for the formal planning:
- Discovery, where we go through all the data, goals and family objectives,
- Strategy, where we review models for working towards the goals, and
- Delivery & Implementation, where we review the final findings and discuss steps for implementing the plan.
For families with special needs members there is a fourth Disability Planning meeting where we do a deep dive into special needs planning, including benefits, services and special needs trusts.
In addition, there may be intermediate steps to clarify information. At the end of the planning process you will receive a written plan and access to our online planning system for one year
Ongoing Financial Planning and Portfolio Management
For clients who implement the plan with us, we offer ongoing Financial Planning and Portfolio Management for one combined fee. This fee is based upon the portfolio assets under our management. It is important for you to know that while your fee is billed for “Portfolio Advisory Services”, this fee represents payments for all of the valued services we perform on your behalf. We encourage you to access as many of these services as possible.
This is a blended fee. For example, for clients with $1,000,000, the fee blends out to about 1%.
Hourly Financial Consulting
Some clients don’t need a full financial plan, just a consultation regarding a specific financial or special needs planning issue in their lives. In that situation we offer hourly financial consulting on a case-by-case basis to address specific issues. The rate for hourly consulting is $400/hour.
